North Star has a proven track record in not only effectively developing renewable power plants, but also in growing businesses of various sizes and working with local governments.  Additionally, the Southeast is a leading generator of biomass for fueling these types of power plants.  North Star believes this unique combination of experience, desire to create jobs in the Southeast, and the attractiveness of the Southeast's local biomass capacity will create a long lasting, profitable enterprise.

North Star Jefferson, LLC is one of North Star's projects located in Jefferson County, Georgia.  We are proud to be partnering with the Development Authority and U.S. Endowment for Forestry & Communities to build a community power plant that can be a significant contributor to the local economy.  This public-private partnership can serve as an innovative model of "community asset creation" by 1. providing markets for trees enabling landowners to to continue retaining their forests as forests and 2. providing family-supporting jobs. There may be some concerns about the viability of a biomass fueled power plant.  Rest assured, combusting biomass and other high caloric feedstock is not new technology.  While we may have some advancements in technology on the operational and environmental front, this is not science fiction or a pipe dream from a business standpoint. Wood-to-energy was the first, and remains the most common source of energy on the planet.
